Ilford Cricket Club
DBS Checks
Ilford Cricket Club is firmly committed to creating a safe and environment for children to enjoy the game. Our volunteers play an important role and all clubs working with children have safeguarding responsibilities. It is there to ensure safe recruitment practices for individuals who work with children, including policies on when to obtain a criminal records check.
The ECB guidance on the roles in cricket that require a vetting check are available here.
ECB Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks have now moved to an online system.
For volunteers, we will also enrol you onto the 'Update Service' which will mean that for most people, you may never have to do another DBS application in cricket.
The application has to be started by someone within cricket who knows you and the role that you are carrying out.
As part of the application you will be required to select 3 forms of ID from a list of options, which you will then need to take with you to have verified in a face-to-face meeting with a verifier, this can be the person who initiated your application or another verifier you have found using the find a verifier tool.
The good news is there is no cost to you as a volunteer, it is free!
Our club DBS verifier is Kenny Kandola. In the first instance, please reach out to Murali Nair who is our safeguarding officer (+44 7720 424948).
