Ilford Cricket Club
Duke of Edinburgh (DofE)
As founder of the DofE, the late HRH Prince Philip helped transform millions of young people’s lives. The aim of the DofE is to help young people build life-long belief in themselves, supporting them to take on their own challenges, follow their passions, and discover talents they never knew they had. Because when you prove to yourself that you’re ready for anything, nothing can hold you back.
The award is for all young people aged between 13 and a half to 24 years old. You can do programmes at 3 levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold.
You have to be aged 13 and a half (or in year 9 at school) to do the Bronze, 15 (or in year 10) or over for Silver and Gold for anyone over 16.
As part of the award scheme, the participant will need to complete three activities; volunteering, skills and physical. In the physical section, you can find cricket under team sports. If you already play cricket or are thinking about playing cricket as part of this award, we can help. We can refer you to coaches at the club and others that have experience of the DofE award. They can provide individual training, focusing on areas in need of improvement. You will need to maintain your activity log and the coach can review what you did in each session and initial accordingly. Once the requirements have been met, the coach will complete the assessor's report, which you will then submit as part of your assessment.
If you would like us to refer you to a coach, contact Darshaka Dassanayake AKA Darsh (mobile: +44 7702 008548).
